Abstract

Esta investigación se realizó con la finalidad de desarrollar un proceso alternativo para la utilización de la caña de azúcar como alimento animal en la Empresa Agropecuaria Guatemala, para la producción de leche y carne vacuna; donde se efectúo una encuesta y se analizaron resultados sobre regionalización de pastos para los ecosistemas en la parte norte y s ur de la provincia de Holguín, las recomendaciones del Servicio de Variedades y Semillas de Caña de Azúcar, atendiendo a las condiciones medio ambientales y las características de los suelos en el ecosistema estudiado, evaluando como disponer de una estru ctura de variedades que se adapten a estas condiciones y presenten un porciento de digestibilidad adecuado. Este análisis se realiza en la empresa referida por la baja productividad de los pastos y el hecho de que prácticamente la caña de azúcar desapareció en la misma. Considerando que la empresa dispone de suficiente área para el fomento de pastos y forrajes, pero factores de manejo de las áreas y la poca eficiencia con que son explotados los mismos, limitan la producción de alimentos para los bovinos. En los análisis efectuados quedó demostrado que es factible en las condiciones del ecosistema, el empleo de la caña de azúcar en la alimentación del ganado vacuno. Recomendándose las variedades más adecuadas a estas condiciones, así como desarrollar cursos de capacitación a los técnicos y obreros que intervendrán en el proceso productivo para ampliar los conocimientos referentes al uso de la caña de azúcar como alternativa para la nutrición del ganado vacuno y su manejo. This investigation was carried out with the purpose of developing an alternative process for the use of the sugarcane as animal food in the Agricultural Company Guatemala, for the production of milk and bovine meat; where a survey was made and results were analyzed on regionalization of grasses for the ecosystems in the north part and south of the county of Holguín, the recommendations of the Service of Varieties and Seeds of Sugarcane, assisting to environmental conditions and the characteristics of soils in the studied ecosystem, evaluating as having a structure of varieties adapted to these conditions and present a percent of appropriate digestibility. This analysis is carried out in the company referred due the drop productivity of the grasses and the fact that practically the sugarcane disappeared in the same one. Considering that the company has enough area for the development of grasses and forages, but factors of handling of the areas and the little efficiency with which the same ones are exploited, they limit the production of foods for the bovine ones. In the made analyses it was demonstrated that it is feasible under the conditions of the ecosystem, the employment of the sugarcane in the feeding of the bovi ne livestock. Being recommended the most appropriate varieties to these conditions, as well as to develop training courses to the technicians and workers that will intervene in the productive process to enlarge the relating knowledge to the use of the suga rcane as an alternative for the nutrition of the bovine livestock and their handling.
