Un drama terrible, un paso para la formación antimperialista de José Martí

Abstract

En el presente artículo las autoras abordan una de las facetas más importantes del pensamiento martiano: su antimperialismo. Para ello se toma como punto de partida un acontecimiento ocurrido dentro del país norteño y que conmocionó a la opinión pública nacional e internacional: los sucesos relacionados con el proceso a los siete anarquistas de Chicago. En el trabajo se hace un análisis de la trayectoria de la visión que de este hecho alcanzó a tener el Maestro en la medida en que fue ahondando en las verdaderas causas que lo originaron, todo lo cual le permitió adquirir un conocimiento mucho más amplio y certero de la sociedad norteamericana y, a la vez, consolidar su formación antimperialista.

In the current article, the author‟s present one of the most important aspects of José Martí ́s thought: antimperialism. The authors take as a starting point an event that took place in a northamerican country that challenged the national and international public opinion: the event related to the process of the seven anarchists from Chicago. In this work, the authors make an analysis of the course of this event and the impact it had in José Martí as he got involved in the real causes which originated it, which gave him the chance to get a wider and truthful knowledge of the northamerican society, and also he reinforced his antimperialist formation as well.
