José Martí: El Deber y el Amor

Abstract

En este artículo se realiza el acercamiento a un tema que ha sido polémico para todos los autores: las relaciones de Martí con su esposa Carmen y bajo qué circunstancias se desarrollaron las mismas. Se ubica a Carmen en su época, en su origen de clase, destacándose cómo estos elementos le impidieron sobreponer su amor a Martí, a las limitaciones y penalidades que tenía que sufrir al lado de un hombre que ponía por encima de todo, incluso de la familia, su amor a la Patria, pero al que le fue siempre fiel.

In this article an approach of topic that has been controversial for all the authors is made: Martí ́s relations with his wife Carmen, and under what circumstances they developed. Carmen, is placed in her epoch and origin of class, emphasiying on how these elements didn ́t allow her to love Martí, and to face the limitations she had to suffer together with a man who put in the first place his love for his homeland and then one for his family, but whom she was always faith.
