La Lucha contra el ALCA desde una perspectiva martiana

Abstract

La obra de José Martí es rica en argumentos para demostrar el carácter opresivo y conquistador de la política norteamericana respecto a la América Latina. Desde el surgimiento del imperialismo, el gobierno norteamericano ha desarrollado una serie de acciones dirigidas a imponer su poder y su cultura para subordinar nuestras economías a sus intereses y consolidar su posición hegemónica en el hemisferio. En el contexto de la globalización neoliberal, las tesis martianas cobran extraordinaria vigencia como arma teórica esencial para poner al descubierto el carácter reaccionario de los métodos empleados hoy para conseguir sus fines; así como revelar la necesidad y urgencia de la integración de nuestros pueblos como única alternativa posible para afianzar nuestra independencia, soberanía, y de esta forma poner fin a la historia del despojo.

José Martí’s work is rich in arguments that show the oppressive and conquering character of North American policy towards Latin America. Since the emergence of imperialism, the North American government has developed a series of actions with the aim to impose its power and culture to subordinate our economies to their interests and consolidate its hegemonic position in this hemisphere. In the context of neoliberal globalization, Martí’s theses become extremely important as a fundamental theoretical weapon to uncover the reactionary character of the methods used today to achieve those ends, as well as to reveal the need and urgency of the integration of our peoples as the only possible alternative to consolidate our independence and sovereignty so as to put an end to this history of plunder.
