Conocer la evolución de la ciencia que se imparte y cómo se desarrolla en la actualidad es de imprescindible valor para los maestros. El reconocido valor histórico de la Matemática en la humanidad y sus implicaciones cada vez más amplia en la sociedad es una verdad que disfrutamos quienes nos dedicamos a ella. En el presente artículo se analizan las tendencias por la que ha transitado la Matemática como ciencia y la incidencia en su enseñanza, con énfasis en la enseñaza de la Geometría.
