Audiotexts and Exercises for Listening Comprehension in English in 8th Grade Students at René Ibarra Font Junior High School in Holguín
Abstract
Tests applied showed the existence of difficulties in the eighth-grade students’ listening comprehension in English at Rene Ibarra Font Junior High School in Holguín during the 2015-201 6 and 2016-2017 academic years. Empirical methods helped corroborate this problem: observation of lessons, survey to students, interview to professors and analysis of written documents (Syllabus) rendered problems in the skill. A theoretical foundation of the research is presented in the first Chapter. It comprises the characterization of the current state of the development of English listening comprehension in eighth-grade students at “René Ibarra Font” Junior High School in Holguín, and the theoretical foundation to support the development of listening comprehension in English. Chapter Two presents the methodological aspects that guide the teaching of listening comprehension and the main contribution of the paper, which is the proposal of exercises aimed at stimulating eighth-grade students´ listening comprehension in English at René Ibarra Font” Junior High School in Holguín, that also includes two recorded texts that recreate the contents of the syllabus for the grade and from which the exercises were devised. Finally, a corroboration chapter (Chapter Three) was developed to show the results of the application of the proposal.
