| dc.description.abstract | El trabajo se realizó en la unidad CPA Congreso Campesino en Armas ubicada en
Velasco, municipio Gibara. Con el objetivo de evaluar el comportamiento de los
cerdos en ceba con dietas a base de diferentes formas de presentación de
Manihot esculenta (yuca). Para el mismo se utilizaron 48 cerdos híbridos YL x
Hampshire machos castrados. Se empleó un diseño de bloque al azar, con 4
tratamientos y 3 repeticiones (4 cerdos por corral), con un muestreo estratificado.
Donde se evaluaron tres formas de presentación de raíces de yuca (fresca,
ensilada y deshidratada) más un suplemento con 40 % de PB. Cuando se utilizó la
raíz de yuca en sus diferentes formas de presentación se lograron animales con
más de 93 kg de peso vivo, aumentos en la ganancia media diaria y una
conversión más eficiente, pero los mejores resultados se obtuvieron en el
tratamiento con la raíz de yuca deshidratada, demostrando factibilidad económica
con su empleo, ganándose más de un peso por cada uno que se invierte para los
tratamientos donde se utilizó la yuca ensilada y deshidratada como componente
fundamental de la ración. Por lo que se recomienda el uso de dietas a base de
raíz de yuca en altos niveles elaboradas en condiciones de producción, para
contribuir a la producción de carne de cerdo en la provincia y el país. The work was carried out in the unit CPA Rural Congress in Weapons located in
Velasco, municipality Gibara. With the objective of evaluating the behavior of the

use of diets is recommended with the help of yucca root in high levels elaborated
under production conditions, to contribute to the production of pig meat in the
