Representación de la Identidad Gibareña en la Obra Artista de la Plástica Luis Catalá Maldonado

Abstract

La pintura es una de las formas de expresión artística más antigua de la humanidad. Uno de los temas recurrentes en las producciones de este tipo es la representación de identidades. Muchos son los creadores que se sienten motivados por aquellos rasgos que los particularizan y por la autoctonía del contexto en el que se desarrollan, cuestiones exteriorizadas a través de su arte. Uno de ellos es Luis Catalá Maldonado, acuarelista gibareño que, con una obra de gran valor cultural y estético, recrea la idiosincrasia de su pueblo. El aporte del presente estudio radica en una valoración de la obra de este artista de la plástica a partir de los elementos de la identidad gibareña que se representan en ella. Su novedad está dada por la realización de un análisis sin precedentes sobre el quehacer pictórico de dicha personalidad, en el cual imperan altos valores identitarios. Mediante el desarrollo de este trabajo se determinaron los referentes teóricos que sustentan los estudios sobre la identidad y las artes plásticas, se caracterizó el contexto histórico-sociocultural gibareño, y se valoró la representación de la identidad gibareña en la pintura de Catalá. Como resultado de esta investigación se pudo confirmar que Gibara es una localidad con cuantiosos valores identitarios. Asimismo se comprobó que la obra pictórica de Luis Catalá Maldonado asume con énfasis los elementos autóctonos de ¨La Villa Blanca de los Cangrejos¨, y los representa con gran naturalidad, maestría y realismo, por lo que es considerada parte del patrimonio cultural de la localidad.

Painting is one of the oldest forms of artistic expression of humanity. One of the recurring topics in the creations of this type is the representation of identities. There are many artists who were motivated by those features that particularize and autochthony by the context in which they were developed, externalized issues through his art. One of them is Luis Catalá Maldonado, Gibara's watercolorist with a work of great cultural and aesthetic value has recreated the idiosyncrasy of his people. The contribution of the present study resides in a valuation of the work of this artist of the plastic one starting from the elements of the Gibara's identity that are represented in her. Their novelty is given by the realization of an analysis without precedents on the pictorial chore of this personality, in which reign high identitaries values. By means of the development of this work the theoretical relating ones that sustain the studies about the identity and the plastic arts were determined, the Gibara's historical- sociocultural context was characterized, and the representation of the Gibara's identity was valued in the painting of Catalá. As a result of this investigation was confirmed that Gibara is a town with considerable identitaries values. Also was proven that Luis Catalá Maldonado's pictorial work assumes with emphasis the autochthonous elements of ¨La Villa Blanca de los Cangrejos¨, and it represents them with great naturalness, master and realism, for what is considered part of the cultural patrimony of the town.
